Coastal On A Roll

Hey guys – sorry it’s been so long since my last post, but I’m a political junkie and have been engrossed in the South Carolina GOP primary.  Now that my focus is back on Coastal, let’s talk about the last 18 days for our Chanticleers! The Basketball team is on a roll. The 4-1 stretch started with a three game win streak over Charleston Southern, Gardner Webb and Presbyterian. ...

Santa Wasn’t Good to Coastal

When the Christmas season started, Coastal was 9-1 with wins over ACC and SEC schools.  Since then, Coastal is 1-3 having lost to College of Charleston, East Carolina and (last night) Campbell.  Coastal’s lone win came against High Point on New Year’s Eve. On top of that, Brandon Crawford has been ruled academically ineligible for this season.  The Chants had already lost Tyrone Poole and...

Coastal Carolina Athletics New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year! Seeing as it’s New Year’s Eve, I thought it would be a good idea to write out a list of New Year’s resolutions for Coastal Carolina Athletics.  Here we go: Win the Big South basketball tournament.  Coastal has been just seconds away from the Big South title in recent years only to have it slip out of their grasp.  They have lost two title games at home, losing to...

Ruminations on CCU’s Head Football Coaching Debacle, Part 1

David Bennett (Courtesy of The Sun News) Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 10+ days, by now you’re aware of the shocking and sudden “reassignment” of former CCU head football coach David Bennett. Countless news articles have been written. There has been an outpouring of support for Bennett’s reinstatement, and an equal outpouring of support for the decision...

Two South Carolina Basketball Powerhouses Collide

Kierre Greenwood No, Clemson and Carolina are not playing again. The basketball powerhouses in the state, at least this year, are Coastal Carolina and College of Charleston.  They will match-up on Thursday night at Kimbel Arena.  Coastal is undefeated at home, including a stunning win over LSU (8-3 with a win over the #10 ranked Marquette Golden Eagles in their last game) earlier this season.  CofC is...

Our New Head Coach Has Arrived

Joe Moglia On December 20, 2011 – just eleven days after relieving David Bennett of his duties as head football coach – Coastal Carolina has introduced Joe Moglia as the man they have chosen to lead the program into the future. Coach Moglia will be the man that will lead us to national championships and fill our stands.  At least…our AD, Hunter Yurachek, had better hope so. Those are...
