Coastal Grabs 2 Seed in Conference Tourney; Defeats Longwood in Game 1

The Big South baseball tournament has started and Coastal is one game closer to bringing home yet another crown.  The Chanticleers defeated Longwood 6-1 in the opening game of the tournament.  Tyler Herb pitched 6 scoreless innings to pick up the win. Herb had only pitched 2 innings since leaving a game on April 7th against Liberty due to injury (a game in which he only went 3.2 innings).  So, having...

Coastal Baseball Takes Series from Georgia Tech

Now this is what I believe Chanticleer fans have been waiting to see all season – Coastal Carolina goes on the road and takes 2 of 3 from a college baseball powerhouse.  CCU started off this series slow, losing the first game 4-2 and not breaking through until the 9th inning of that game.  However, it seems that once the bats woke up – they stayed awake.  Coastal won game two 7-4, and game...

Baseball Season is Here

That’s right, guys – I know it’s only February and it’s still freezing outside, but our Chanticleers have already started out the year with a two game sweep of James Madison.  They won the first game 4-3 on Friday, and after a rain out on Saturday, won the second game 8-7 Sunday.  Coastal is now 17-1 in home openers under coach Gilmore and has won 15 straight home openers. (Yes,...

Why Coastal’s Road Woes Don’t Matter

It’s been a tough year for Coastal Carolina men’s basketball.  Seems like every time they start to get hot, they go on the road and are cooled off.  At one point, Coastal had lost five straight games on the road – two of those loses came against teams with losing records. Thankfully, the Chants managed to snap their road losing skid with a win at Presbyterian on Wednesday night. At...
